Summary
The Library Media Center specialist has a key role to play in ensuring daily functioning and strategic development of the Learning Commons in order to enhance student learning at SIS. In this work, the Library Media Specialist closely cooperates with technology integrators and teachers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Modeling and promoting effective uses of the LC resources for learning and teaching.
Consulting and planning with teachers to embed Learning Commons resources and technology in classroom curriculum to enrich student learning.
Instilling the joy of reading and increasing literacy at SIS by organizing different activities within and outside the LC.
Coordinating and set-up special events to create a culture of reading throughout the school (for example, the Book Fair which is coordinated through collaboration and planning with the SPC.)
Making the LC an inviting, student-age-appropriate learning space.
Regularly collaborating with technology integrators to support teaching and learning.
Assisting in collection development and management of books, periodicals, e-books, and other student resources.
Helping manage the acquisition, processing, organization, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of resources.
Encouraging staff and students to access the LC and its resources.
Planning, developing and encouraging selection and purchase of age/interest-appropriate literary and media materials in collaboration with students and staff.
Regularly communicating with classroom/advisory teachers to plan, resource, and co-teach library and research skills during library lessons.
Attending collaborative planning meetings with classroom teachers.
With the support of technology integrators, working with students in groups or individuals in the development of media and tinkering skills, help with reference work, selection of books, and online reference searches.

Qualifications, Attributes, and Experience:
Minimum 3 years of qualified teaching experience.
Librarian and technology skills.
Passion for literacy development
Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written.
The ability to work effectively in a team.
The ability to show initiative and work independently.
The ability to function effectively under pressure.
The ability to establish a good rapport with children and adults.
Pleasant and friendly personality.

The successful applicant would ideally have a working knowledge of the IB PYP Programme. Experience working with students from diverse cultures and countries would be an advantage.
Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection. Included in the recruitment process will be a local and national police check as well as a mandatory police background check from the last year of employment in every country worked.
Contract: Temporary position (Parental leave), one year 100%
Start: As soon as possible
Salary: Fixed salary
