Essity is strategically focusing on the Hygiene and Health businesses to accelerate its use of information both internally and externally. Internally, there are large opportunities to better manage Master Data, Meta Data and Content; and use Analytics, Big Data and Social capabilities to achieve the strategic priorities of profitable growth, innovation and efficiency. Externally, Essity will significantly increase the use of information to engage, sell to and service the end consumer of our products.
To achieve the desired business outcomes there needs to be an overall focus and change in the approach to Business Intelligence (BI) within Essity IT. We need to dramatically accelerate our efforts to ensure the overall design and governance of BI supports our existing and future needs.
To strengthen our Business Intelligence capabilities, we are searching for an
Business Intelligence Platform Owner
to be based in our office in Munich (Germany), Barcelona (Spain) or Göteborg (Sweden).
The BI Platform Owner is a Technical Leader responsible for ensuring our large enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence platform meets existing and future technical needs. This includes driving for harmonization, simplification and adopting best practices to deliver operational excellence in a heterogeneous BI landscape.
This role works with information architects, enterprise architects, solution architects, business analysts, and BI developers.
As a Technical Leader, you are equally able to communicate with developers to give direction and IT stakeholders on why technical directions are recommended or have been decided. This includes understanding the architecture impacts, developing the implementation approach as well as the underlying business value and needs that drive the technology.
You feel ownership (and are responsible) for the BI platform and know how to balance speed and quality in delivery.
You are used to working with both internal and external partners and suppliers from multiple countries and cultures.
Main Tasks
Take a leading role in the BI team
Plan platform expansion, enhancement, and/or simplification initiatives
Help drive strategic initiatives for expanding capabilities, simplification or improving quality of the BI stack (including moving platforms to cloud infrastructures)
Participate in developing and revising BI platform architecture roadmaps
Support development of reference architecture, including standards, best practices and in management of exemptions for the team
Design, implement and ensure adherence to govern the BI platform
Drive operational excellence through platform health monitoring, security compliance, and cost optimization
Actively seek out new technologies and trends and advocate for change within Essity's BI platform
Key Competencies
University degree in computer science, management information systems, data science or related discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in IT development, administration, and/or business analysis in the Business Intelligence domain, for SAP and Microsoft software offerings
Knowledge in information design, governance and process to support quality delivery
Extensive knowledge of the SAP and Microsoft BI software offerings
Broad knowledge of BI software and platforms offerings, including technology trends
Preferable to have hands-on experience with configuring and administering BI platforms
Fluent in English, both written and oral
Ability to travel (up to 20%)
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to combine strategic thinking, have strong communication skills, a broad understanding of each of the BI disciplines as well as a strong commercial understanding of where potential value opportunities exist.
