Job description
Crew scheduling is basically an optimization task with the purpose to maximise aviation safety and resource utilisation. The task is to assign crews to flights in such a manner that the crew utilization is maximised and at the same time the fatiguing effect is minimised while considering constraints defined by:
• Government and EU regulations concerning flight time, duty time and required rest.
• Labour agreements
• Aircraft maintenance schedules
• Crew member qualification and licensing
• Crew training schedules
• Qualification requirements related to aircraft type
• Qualification requirement related to airports
• Qualification requirements related to type of operation
• Requirements to pair junior crew members with experienced crew members
• Crew members vacation
• Customer requirements
• Basing of crew members
• Crew members ability/lack of ability to acclimatise to time zone changes
Personal qualifications
• Good analytical skills
• Good understanding of human behaviour
• Problem solver
• Good communicative skills
• Ability to be creative and take own decisions in a strictly regulated environment respecting the regulations
• Consistent
• Attentive and humble but not compliant and vacillating
• Ability to structure the work
• Previous experience from similar scheduling / planning work is desirable.
