Would you like to work at one of the brightest lightsources in the world?

MAX IV is looking for a Beamline Scientist to work as a part of the tomography efforts at MAX IV Laboratory, as part of the DanMAX beamline team.

At MAX IV, we are committed to expanding our tomography capabilities, with plans for a new dedicated beamline focused on tomographic experiments for life sciences. You are going to play a role in community building for this new beamline in particular and developing tools for tomography in general. We are currently offering micro-tomography capabilities at DanMAX and ForMAX, and nano-tomography at NanoMAX-critical tools used by the life science community. This position has funding for three years.

Your main work tasks and responsibilities will be

- Lead efforts to expand the user community focused on tomography of radiation-sensitive materials, particularly in life sciences and medical applications, at DanMAX and other tomography beamlines
- Develop innovative processes and methods to lower the barriers for tomography research, making these technologies more user accessible
- Provide expert support regarding tomography to users and staff at current beamlines
- Collaborate with the team and take the scientific lead in the development of the future imaging beamline dedicated to life science.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

- PhD in physics, chemistry, or a closely related discipline
- Extensive experience in X-ray imaging and microscopy, with a preference for synchrotron-based experiments
- Experience within life sciences is highly advantageous. Proven expertise in experimental data analysis.

Below are seen as merits:

- Proficiency in programming, high performance computing and handling large data sets
- Experience in visualization of 3D volumetric data
- Experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of complex scientific instruments or software development for data acquisition and instrument control
- Experience in community building and scientific outreach.

As a person you are a proactive team player with excellent communication skills, fluency in English, and the ability to effectively manage your time and priorities. If you are excited about contributing to cutting-edge science and expanding the capabilities of the life sciences research community, we want to hear from you!

What we offer
A dynamic and collaborative environment that encourages scientific innovation and method development in partnership with beamline teams and the user community. The opportunity to engage with a wide range of exciting research projects and push the limits of what's possible in tomographic imaging. A supportive workplace culture where teamwork, open communication, and pushing scientific boundaries are highly valued.

When you join our MAX IV team, you step into a world of front edge science. We make the invisible visible by supporting scientist from all over the world, generating scientific results for the benefit of society. We offer you a multicultural work environment with great opportunities for personal development with respect for a healthy work-life balance.
