MAX IV is a national large-scale research laboratory providing scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world with instruments for research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.
We are looking for a new team member to join the Beamline Office and for the first two years the DanMAX beamline team, at MAX IV Laboratory.
Tasks:
Responsible for defining and implementing engineering projects at various MAX IV beamlines. These tasks include:
During the construction and commissioning of DanMAX:
- Plan and partake in the installation of the X-ray optics.
- Take part in the ID, front end and optics commissioning.
- Take responsibility for the detailed design and engineering of the imaging instrument and detector gantry.
- Design and implement standards for detector and sample environment mounts.
- Prepare the installation plan for the three end station instruments.
- Take part the commissioning of the powder diffraction and imaging instruments.
The construction and commissioning of DanMAX is expected to take at least two years. After this, there will be gradual transition as a member of the Beamline Office to support other beamlines/ projects within the MAX IV laboratory with similar tasks including but not limited to design, installation and commissioning, procurements and project supervision.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications are:
- Mechanical engineering degree (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience with synchrotron radiation equipment. Preferably from more than one facility.
- Significant experience in managing complex instrumentation projects in all stages: i.e. planning, design, construction, procurement, commissioning, operation & maintenance
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering including 3D-CAD/CAM software
- A demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiatives and being performance oriented.
- Excellent command of English, well-developed communication skills and team working skills
Additional desirable qualifications:
- Experience in X-ray imaging and diffraction instrumentation
- Experience in X-ray optics and its integration into setups such as synchrotron radiation beamlines
- Experience in procurement processes.
