Being part of Battery Recycling team
Battery Recycling is a function within Volvo Energy, Battery Industrialization and Logistics that is setting the scene for recycling of all batteries of the Volvo Group. We have circularity in our DNA. We orchestrate the work between functions, maintain relevant internal services and appropriate external partnerships to fulfill our mission. We communicate broadly to secure proper knowledge, involvement and recognition of our colleagues and counterparts. We monitor and optimize operational, environmental and financial performances of our recycling systems.
What are we looking for in this specific role?
We are now looking for a Battery Recycling Specialist, this is a new position in Volvo Energy with the intention to contribute to the battery recycling journey for the Volvo Group.
The Battery Recycling Specialist will lead company strategic investigations when it deals with battery recycling. This is all about building recycling strategies, roadmaps and cost/revenue pictures. The task is also about identifying opportunities for collaboration and partnerships so as identifying roadblocks and bringing solutions.
This is a truly cross-functional role across the Volvo Group, involving all truck brands, BAs and the GTx community. The challenge is to support the Volvo Group in reaching sustainable close loop recycling set up as well as securing profitability.
Main responsibilities:
Develop expertise in all recycling matters worldwide by mastering literature, news, information flows.
Monitor battery regulations and directives and examine impact on recycling for the Volvo Group.
Represent the Volvo Group in external battery recycling initiatives.
Represent Volvo Energy in all make or buy activities in relation with battery recycling.
Build closed loop battery recycling strategy and secure implementation.
Design partnerships (plan, scope, partners) and anchor internally.
Build and keep up to date the battery recycling cost and revenue model.
What are the qualifications likely required to be successful?
To succeed, we believe that you are innovative, pragmatic, creative with a positive spirit, curious and have an entrepreneurial mindset. Being appreciated by your peers, you enjoy connecting with a broad network, building win-win approaches and developing relationships.
You have a strong ability to move from words to action. You are down-to-earth and are equally at home working hands-on as you are leading "gemba" walks or strategic discussions.
Your experience is:
University degree in industrial engineering or similar, preferably in chemical area.
Significant leadership experience (line and/or project) in industrial/supply chain functions.
Recognized experience in battery recycling area.
Excellent knowledge in building frameworks (process, methods, strategies, plans) and leveraging intrapreneurial skills in large, cross-functional organizations.
Good knowledge of industrial, circular value-chains for battery packs and related components.
Fluent in English, written and spoken.
The location for the position is flexible and will be preferably in Gothenburg, Sweden or Lyon, France.
