Base Technology Responsible

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As BASE TECHNOLOGY RESPONSIBLE within the group Diagnostics and Dependability at Electrical Engineering, you will as part of the group drive the development of in-vehicle diagnostics by defining concepts, targets and strategies for the long term development based on the organisations needs and industry's state of the art. The group also supports the ongoing development programs, develop requirements and guidelines, provide direct user support and give training. Diagnostics and Dependability have the corporate responsibility for developing and maintaining in-vehicle diagnostics within Volvo Cars as well as supporting the entire Research and Development organisation within this area.

The section Diagnostics and ECU Platform is responsible for all base technologies in the electrical platform that forms the base for the entire electrical system. Base technologies are e.g. network design, communication technology and the diagnostic system. The section is a part of Electrical and Electronics System Engineering within Volvo Cars Research and Development (R&D) division.

Job profile:

You start as a member of the Base Technology Development Team. Your responsibilities are expected to gradually expand in conjunction with your growing skills. Your initial task list will be adapted to fit your personal experiences. In the near future your responsibilities will grow until it incorporates the entire Base Technology area. As Base Technology Responsible, you lead and coordinate the total development efforts for in-vehicle diagnostics within Volvo Cars, meaning that you and your team will be delivering the following:
• You lead the strategic work for in-vehicle diagnostics within Volvo Cars
• You maintain and develop requirements for in-vehicle diagnostic
• You monitor the diagnostics implementation status in on-going programs.
• You develop, establish and maintain guidelines on how to, in practice, utilize the diagnostic system in an efficient manner.
• Drive development of verification methods for diagnostics.
• You represent Volvo Cars in international standardisation matters.
• You keep track of competitors via benchmarking and direct contacts.

Your profile:
• B.Sc. grade within computer science, electronics, physics, mechatronics, or a similar education. We value both education and professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years work experience from development of automotive electronics.
• A documented capacity of planning and leading own and other's efforts.
• A documented capacity of team work and co-operation across entire organisations.
• Meritorious is if you have experience from other electrical base technologies (e.g. network design, communication, and in particular Autosar) and experience from co-operation with automotive suppliers
