The position
As a Backend Developer at Viaplay, you will have the opportunity to build the most sought-after streaming service in the Nordics. You will be at the forefront of digital media and develop the platform for our continuously growing user base. Your engagement will shape the future of our service as you will be involved in defining the future for video on demand. You will be part of growing the platform, enhance our user experience, and create the next generation of streaming services.
You will join a cross-functional team on a mission to provide our users with the best possible stream at any given time. The team delivers engineering solutions aligned with technical and product long-term visions and is fully autonomous in how to create the best solution to reach their goals. In other words, if you are into working in an innovative way and done with just delivering on Jira tickets all day - we have an offer you can't refuse!
What we are looking for
For this position, we are looking for an experienced backend developer, comfortable with working with cloud environments such as AWS. We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that's why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you'll have at least some experience of the following:
• Building and maintaining solid and high performing containerized micro-services in Node.js, Microservice/Serverless architecture.
• Designing event driven architecture
• Data modelling and working with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB
We believe that you:
• Enjoy working in tight cross functional teams, for instance using practices such as pair/mob programming.
• Are not afraid to ask questions
• Have a solution oriented mindset
• Are humble and enjoy working with and learning from your colleagues
Bonus requirements:
• Are curious about developing applications with Rust
• Have some experience from the media/entertainment industry
