In 2018, Zettle joined forces with PayPal to go further in its mission to help small businesses succeed in a world of giants. By offering them easy tools to get paid, sell smarter and grow, we are empowering merchants from all over the world to reach their full potential. Our journey in putting an end to ordinary is just starting. Together, we're extraordinary. Together, we're made for more and the best is yet to come. Are you in?

As our quest to democratise financial services continues at blazing speed, our Risk Engineering Team is looking for a passionate Backend Developer with a Full Stack mindset.
In this role, you will join a group of passionate Developers working on enabling growth of new and existing sellers by providing them with an easy, secure, and compliant way to be identified and verified to use Zettle by PayPal products.
A glimpse of what you would get here
Part of the Seller Lifecycle Alliance, our core mission consists in ensuring that Zettle's sellers are verified from their onboarding and continuously during their time with us. All to help small businesses get easy access to our products, whilst making sure the bad ones are not let in.
Together with a self-reliant group of people, you'll work with a wide range of technologies to solve meaningful and impactful challenges. Here we do it all, from seeking and understanding requirements, to coding, testing, setting up the infrastructure, managing databases and monitoring systems in production.
Joining us is an opportunity to take a deep dive into the world of Fintech by collaborating with various people across the organization who know the nitty gritty details of risk management, compliance, and user needs. Everything required to build market specific user flows for onboarding new sellers and making sure existing ones can provide us with the info we need to stay in business.
The skills to exceed
We work in Agile and everyone in our team is a Developer, Tester, DevOps, and DBA. In other words, apart from developing, we set up and maintain our own infrastructure (AWS) while managing our databases and taking care of the testing.
With this in mind, nothing is exhaustive but we think that the following would greatly help in this role:
Skilled in Java 8+ using application frameworks such as Dropwizard or Spring Boot.
Proficient at test automation, unit tests as well as integration tests.
Know how to setup, manage, and use relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
At ease with infrastructure as code, preferably using Terraform.
Experienced in deploying containers to a Cloud environment.
Comfortable with source code version controlled in Git.

The key traits to exceed
In an ideal world, we see you as:
A great communicator with your peers within the team as well as with various internal and external stakeholders / partners.
A team player who likes to pair and mob program and believes in developing great solutions by working closely together.
A person on the hunt for gaining new domain knowledge and understanding challenges prior they are refined to concrete tasks.
A groundbreaker with the drive to contribute in improving our way of working and tech stack by trying out new technologies.

Lastly, we all believe that having a life outside of work is a must have. While we love developing amazing stuff, we also love hanging out with our families, rowing, gardening, flying drones, playing arcade games etc. It's a key factor of our success and we make it possible by always supporting each other.

Earn extra points if you...
Have experience in working with no-SQL databases such as Amazon DynamoDB.
Enjoy Test Driven Development (TDD).
Know how to develop frontends using React.

Does this sound like you?
If yes, we'd love to hear from you and take things further! Go on, hit apply and let's talk!
