Fueled by a fundamental belief that having access to financial services creates opportunity, PayPal (NASDAQ: PYPL) is committed to democratizing financial services and empowering people and businesses to join and thrive in the global economy. Our open digital payments platform gives PayPal's 392 million active account holders the confidence to connect and transact in new and powerful ways, whether they are online, on a mobile device, in an app, or in person. Through a combination of technological innovation and strategic partnerships, PayPal creates better ways to manage and move money, and offers choice and flexibility when sending payments, paying or getting paid. Available in more than 200 markets around the world, the PayPal platform, including Braintree, Venmo and Xoom enables consumers and merchants to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds in 56 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 25 currencies.

In 2021, Zettle became ZettlebyPayPal to go even further in its mission to help small businesses succeed in a world of giants. By offering the tools to get paid, sell smarter and grow, we are empowering them to reach their full potential. Together, we're extraordinary. Together, we're made for more and the best is yet to come. Our journey in putting an end to ordinary and redefine financial freedom is just starting. Are you with us?

As our quest to democratise financial services continues at blazing speed, our Money Alliance is on the lookout for an inspiring Backend Developer to join our Ledger Team in Stockholm.
In this role, you will join a group of passionate People busy with offering easy access to a robust ledger in ways that enable teams to build reliable, trustworthy and innovative financial products to strengthen our Sellers.
A glimpse of what we do

Part of MoneyTech Alliance, our Team's core mission consists in building the Financial Platform that closes the gap between our Product teams and the Finance team. This way we enable our product to grow freely and our Finance team to keep the pace.
In our systems we have a zero fault tolerance while handling millions of events per day. Scalability and monitoring are crucial, testing is as important as production code itself and we write code for the developers that will come, not simply code that works.
What you would get here

In our MoneyTech Area, we co-own everything we do. We own our success, but we also own our setbacks. As a Backend Developer in Ledger you will get the opportunity to contribute to all facets of the Backend, but also all aspects of the Software Engineering. This includes infra, data, application, deployment, monitoring, architecture, code reviews, pair and mob programming, etc.
The skills to succeed

We believe in using the best technologies for the task. In this spirit, we continuously review our toolkit, architecture and ways of working, and we are open to new tools and frameworks. Today we work with Java 15, Dropwizard, Wildfly, Docker, Terraform, PostgreSQL, everything being hosted on AWS.
As mentioned above, as a Team we help each other thrive: that's why we're not expecting you to be an expert in everything and will be here to support. With this in mind, while not being exhaustive we think that the following would help you:

Proven experience building distributed systems.
Experience working with continuously delivered systems.
Fluent in Java 8+
SQL and data modelling.
Pair/Mob programming experience.
Results and delivery oriented.
Learning and knowledge sharing spirit.

The traits to thrive
You're reliable. You're curious and bold. You think about the next developer. You share your knowledge, experience and opinions while respecting that the last word comes from the Team as one. You make it fun and, from time to time, wouldn't mind playing Dominion after lunch.
Earn bonus points with...
Knowledge or experience with Amazon Web Services.
Knowledge or experience with Unix/Linux.

Does this sound interesting?
If yes, we'd love to take things further! Go on, hit apply & let's talk.
