www.pressroom.ups.com The Aviation Security Officer ensures compliance of all appropriate regulatory requirements and UPS Standards within the facilities of a Country or specific territory. The person holding the position is the legally nominated Aviation Security Officer of a territory and is the single point of contact for appropriate authorities. The Aviation Security Officer manages the Facility Security Coordinators and supports the Country Business Risk and Compliance Committee. The position documents incidents of Aviation security violations and will take appropriate corrective action steps. The position reports to the Nordic Security Manager and has an indirect reporting line to the Region Aviation Security Operations Manager.
Job duties
• Understand and execute EU and Country specific Aviation Security requirements, support the appropriate function to develop site specific procedures and ensure they are in compliance with EU and local regulations
• Ensure all sites in your area are compliant to appropriate regulatory requirements.
• Responsible for the compliance of the Aviation Security Program by making sure the program reflects changes in regulations and operations are adapted accordingly.
• Ensure appropriate training will be delivered to your group and act as authority approved trainer for the Territory.
• Anticipates and addresses potential threats and puts procedures in place designed to safeguard Territory or Operation.
• Identify resources and tools used to monitor, patrol, and report on emergency situation
• Facilitates internal and external audits and compliance inspections and is responsible for implementing quality assurance controls.
• Develop basic programs that reduce risk and enhance safety.
• Interacts with vendors, with a view to implement strict compliance controls.
• Independently analyzes information on typical types of incidents to determine causes and document findings; identify patterns or links among or between incidents and direct next steps required by type of incident.
Qualifications
• Experience preferred working within aviation security
• University degree or equivalent work experience
• Excellent communications skills (English)
• Problem solving and decision making skills
• Highly structured and analytical abilities
