The arena
AstraZeneca is currently making large investments to increase our research capability in Inhaled Pharmaceuticals, in Mölndal, Sweden. We are investing in new equipment, new technologies and more people. We now aim to increase the number of people working with Product Development for Inhalation by 50%. We therefore seek people with knowledge in various skills relevant for inhaled drug delivery, such as formulation science, analytical chemistry, solid state properties, device development and biopharmaceutical sciences.
AstraZeneca Mölndal is one of AstraZeneca?s three core sites for drug research, with about 2.500 employees at site. At Product Development, Sweden, a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Development, we focus on the fields of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and on Respiratory, Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases. Within Product Development Inhalation we have an exciting pipeline, consisting of both new molecules and new devices. The unit currently comprises 80 people, dedicated to research and development for new inhaled drug products and we want you to be a part of growing our expertise in this area.
The role
We are now looking for an experienced automation scientist, or similar, with a focus on developing and implementing automated analytical tools for inhaled drug products, inhalation device filling and assembly. The tools can be as small as excel spread sheets you have created or robots. Lab Automation, preferably in the field of life sciences, and GXP experience is preferred, although automation experience within other scientific or industrial fields could also be considered.
Daily operation and maintenance of analytical robots.
Leading, coordinating and supporting automation and data handling projects within the inhalation unit in close operation with the automation lead at the unit.
Identifying new and improved opportunities for automation with a focus on increasing productivity in analytical methods.
Setting up simple applications e.g. within excel spread sheets or by employing JavaScript.
Lead or participating in activities related to implementation of new automation solutions and move them into ?business as usual? phase.
Networking and support less experienced co-workers in their day to day work by establishing new ways of working within your area of expertise.
Prepare documentation and formal reports in accordance with current standards, with a sound knowledge of GMP requirements (or equivalent).
Leading or participating in requirements, testing and validation documentation activities for automated systems or excel spread sheets.
