Audition for Principal Viola
March 23, 2023 Stockholm

The first round will be held in a digital form and to qualify for the 2nd and 3rd rounds, candidates are asked to upload a video recording, containing:
1st and 2nd movements without cadenzas and without piano accompaniment from one of the following pieces:
C.Stamitz: Viola concerto in D major
or Hoffmeister: Viola concerto in D major
Orchestral excerpts (enclosed): Beethoven Symphony no.5, 2nd movement. Strauss: Don Juan.
The music is to be performed in this order in one continuous, unedited recording. Application can't be submitted without this recording and we prefer a link to e.g. Youtube instead of a file.
This will be regarded as 1st round, after which the jury will decide who they will invite to the audition on March 23, 2023. The audition will take place in the Swedish Radio Corporation Building, Stockholm
Compulsory pieces on the audition March 23:
1st movement from one of the following concertos:
W.Walton or B.Bartók or P. Hindemith : Der Schwanendreher
Orchestral excerpts (enclosed) and ensemble works (will be sent out later on together with the invitation).

https://www.srso.seThe Berwaldhallen concert hall, which is included in the Sveriges Radio organization, is a leading culture creator, regionally, nationally and internationally. It is the home of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir. All concerts are broadcasted via the Swedish Radio. Most of the orchestra's concerts are also broadcasted to large regions of the world through the European Broadcasting Union.
By touring and performing throughout the world, our two ensembles have become important ambassadors for Swedish music and culture abroad. This means we can also attract some of the leading conductors and soloists, as evidenced by our present internationally renowned principal conductors, Daniel Harding and Kaspars Putni.
An interest in contemporary music is clearly reflected in the repertoire. Swedish composers are regularly commissioned, and the maintenance and promotion of the Swedish orchestra repertoire is an important goal of the program planning. We also collaborate with Swedish pop stars and give concerts for children in an aim to broaden the audience base. Major tours in Europe, Asia and elsewhere are held thus being the guest of many important concert halls and festivals. The orchestra is a continuous nave in the well-established Baltic Sea Festival.
