We live in a fairly large house situated next to a campsite that we run as a family business. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside full of footpaths for great walks, for example to the nearby village of Ditchling, where the nearest pubs and shops are to be found. We have 2 lovely little boys, Charlie who is 3 1/2 and Ziggy who is 16 months old. Charlie is very happy, easy-going and sociable and loves meeting new people. Ziggy is generally very content, has just started walking and enjoys exploring the world around him.
Mum is Swedish, used to work as a teacher but is now looking after campers and children. If she has any time off she likes to do yoga, go to the cinema, read etc. Dad is English and helps with the campsite but is also busy with various other businesses in Brighton. We are certainly a very easy-going family. If you like children, experiencing new things, living in the countryside and enjoy meeting new people, this might just be the job for you!
Description of tasks:
Your job will be to help looking after the children and the house, prepare light meals and help with clearing up. We have a cleaner who comes once a week so we mainly want you to help with picking up toys and keeping the place fairly tidy. Charlie goes to pre-school a couple of mornings per week. We love for our children to play outside as much as possible so we would like you to take them for walks in the woods, explore the area by bike or on foot etc. No pets (except 5 chickens).
Description of qualifications:
Ideally, you have experience of working with children and babies, but most important is that you enjoy children and their company. We also value somebody who can take initiative, work independently and be flexible. We want you to speak Swedish with the children (this is very important to us) but the main language in the family is English so there will be plenty of opportunity for you to practice.
How does the aupair live:
You will stay in one of our cute little caravans, to give both you and us some private space. There's a tv in there and we can probably arrange DVD player if you wish. There is wi-fi in the caravan if you wish to bring your own laptop. You will of course have full access to the house and all the facilities there (internet etc.)
Working hours:
VERY varied and flexible as they will be arranged around the running of the campsite but we are always busy at weekends so your time off is more likely to be during the week. 35 hours per week with possibility to work more (and earn more) if you wish!
Benefits apart from pocket money:
Possibility to earn more by helping with campsite. One week paid holiday in July. We will pay for your flight from Sweden.
