We are now looking for an Associate Senior Lecturer to strengthen our team on mine production.
Subject description
Mining and Rock Engineering comprises mining technology, rock engineering and rock mechanics, including rock mass properties, design of rock excavations and tunneling as well as planning and production processes related to both mining and civil engineering.
Duties
Associate Senior Lecturer have to conduct research, research supervision, and be involved in teaching activities within relevant areas of the research subject. Particular emphasis is on applied research in our subject, so good relations with Swedish and International mining and mineral industries are important.
Associate Senior Lecturer are also expected to contribute to the university's development, i.e. to contribute to obtaining external funding to the subject, to communicate research outcomes via academic publications, and to participate in managerial and administrative tasks.
The duties of Associate Senior Lecturer also include teaching for the educational programmes of Civil Engineering and Master of Sciences in Mining and Geotechnical Engineering.
Qualifications
Qualified for an appointment as Associate Senior Lecturer are those who:
have been awarded a doctoral degree or must have a foreign degree considered equivalent to a doctoral degree.
Primary consideration should be given to someone who has been awarded a doctoral degree within five years of the application deadline for employment as an associate senior lecturer. However, someone who has been awarded a doctoral degree or achieved corresponding competence at an earlier date may also be considered if there are special grounds. Special grounds are sick leave, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

PhD in Rock Engineering, Mining or Civil Engineering with specialisation in Rock Engineering or similar
Experience in international research cooperation
The ability to communicate research and development work
Fluent in oral and written English
Experience in data filtering using AI and ML, Digital twin visualisation tool and software development, Dynamic loading control, economic parameters for loading optimisation, experimental experience and synchronisation of vibration data combined with multi-sensor information from drilling.
Period of employment
For this employment, an employment period of four years applies. Placement in Luleå.
Promotion to senior lecturer
An Associate Senior Lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to senior lecturer and a position until further notice. If the applicant is qualified for a position as senior lecturer and in an examination is deemed suitable for such a position, is determined in accordance with the assessment criteria set out below:
In the examination, it is required that the associate senior lecturer has completed higher education pedagogical education corresponding to 7.5 credits or has acquired corresponding knowledge in another way.
During the employment period, the associate senior lecturer must also independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, contribute to the university's research and demonstrate good pedagogical skills.
