About the position
The position as associate senior lecturer is intended to provide early career researchers with an opportunity to develop their independence as researchers and advance their research and teaching expertise for the purpose of enabling them to fulfil the requirements for appointments as senior lecturers. This is a tenure-track position which can be held for a maximum of four years. An associate senior lecturer who meets the qualification requirements for employment as senior lecturer has the right, upon application, to be considered for promotion to a permanent position as senior lecturer (see below).

The position duties include not only research, but also teaching within the programmes and courses offered by the Department, specifically regarding courses in alignment with the topics physical pharmacy, and cell and molecular biology, specifically related to physicochemical perspectives of pharmaceutical formulations design, their interactions with biological interfaces and effects on living systems. Teaching duties include course coordination, supervision, course administration, and various managing tasks. The overall four-year research teaching ratio should be 3 to 1. Additional duties include responsibility for the appropriate equipment and to serve as a liaison between national and international researchers, and partner industry.

Qualifications
In order to qualify for appointment as associate senior lecturer, the applicant must have obtained a PhD in Biomedical science or other relevant discipline no more than 5 years prior to the application deadline for the appointment. Applicants who obtained their PhDs more than 5 years prior to the application deadline may be considered under special circumstances, including sick leave, parental leave, clinical work, duties as a union representative or other similar circumstances.

The successful candidate has documented experience of teaching, supervision and research in the areas of physical pharmacy and cell and molecular biology. Specifically related to physicochemical perspectives of pharmaceutical formulations design, their interactions with biological interfaces and effects on living systems.

Further qualifications required for this position are:

• Experience in teaching in both Swedish and English
• Experience in writing competitive research grant applications
• Completed postdoctoral employment or postdoctoral stay after graduation

Following qualifications are highly valued:

• Experience in the study (i.e. design and characterization) of nanotechnology-based formulations and their performance in vitro/ex vivo
• Experience in project management
• Experience in collaboration with national and international research entities within the current research field
• Experience in collaboration with industry, and understanding their needs, within the current research field

Assessment criteria
When selecting among qualified applicants, particular importance will be attached to scientific skill. With reference to the nature of the employment of merit employers, the applicants' scientific and educational qualifications will be judged primarily in qualitative terms, where emphasis will be placed on a clearly developed and independent research profile after dissertation. A quantitative advantage of an applicant, which can be explained by the fact that an applicant has been active for a long time, should therefore not be decisive.

Scientific proficiency: Scientific proficiency refers to research qualification. In assessing the scientific skill, particular emphasis will be placed on research studies that show that the applicant has a solid knowledge in Biomedical science with a focus on physical pharmacy linked to cell and molecular biology. In assessing scientific skill, first and foremost, scientific quality will be taken into account. The scope of research will also be important.

Educational skills: The applicant's educational skills are also important in the assessment. Educational skills relate to education and teaching qualification, and in particular educational quality will be taken into account. Even scope, both width and depth, will be given importance. Teachers at Malmö University are expected to have at least 15 higher education credits as soon as possible.

Administrative and other skills are important for the employment and will be given weight. Administrative skills are shown, inter alia, by the ability to plan,organize and prioritize work effectively and for the purpose. In addition, emphasis will be placed on the ability to interact both internally and in terms of the rewarding society.
