We have an opening for a permanent position at a vibrant, international and outward-looking work environment, in the lively city of Gothenburg on the west-coast of Sweden. We offer you rewarding tasks and the freedom for you to develop your research and teaching excellence in your goal towards making a real difference.

The Division of Interaction Design and Software Engineering is now recruiting an Associate Professor in Software Engineering. The Division has strong research and teaching activities within the areas of software testing, requirements engineering, empirical software engineering, and behavioral software engineering. In addition to this, we do research in human-computer interaction, as well as human-robot interaction, and game design. The division also has a strong tradition of collaboration between these subject areas.

The advertised position is open to qualified applicants with research and teaching excellence in any area of software engineering.

About the Department
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is a joint department at both Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg. Around 90 faculty members and 120 PhD students, hailing from around 40 different countries, are engaged in research and education across the full spectrum of computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, and interaction design, from foundations to applications. The department is organized into four academic divisions:
• Computer and Network Systems
• Computing Science
• Data Science and AI
• Interaction Design and Software Engineering.

Major responsibilities
You will foster both independent and collaborative research in your chosen field, teach general and specialist courses at both bachelor's and master's level, attract research funding, supervise students at all academic levels, cooperate in exchange of knowledge and communication with external partners, and support our internal development work at the department.

The proportions between research and teaching at our department varies with the availability of external research funding, and all researchers participate in the teaching. For the first year, the expected proportion of teaching for this position is 50 %.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position you should have a doctoral degree in Computer science or Software engineering, or a related field, and a well-documented record of research in the area, including experience in conducting and leading research as member of a group. You should have a strong documented experience in relevant teaching and have expertise according to the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education (SUHF). External applicants who currently do not meet the SUHF recommendations may be employed for a permanent position under the condition that the required education is completed within the first two years of employment.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.

For a complete description of the qualification requirements for the position of Associate Professor at Chalmers, please consult our Appointment regulations, section 6.3.

Our offer to you
The position is a full-time permanent employment.

At Chalmers we seek to establish a good work/life balance. We want to provide you with the means to pick the best path possible in your pursuit of making a difference. Our ambitions in this area are reflected in the generous employment conditions, including:
• holiday allowance of up to 7 weeks per year
• a collective agreement including parental pay, sick pay supplement, and medicine costs
• a wellness allowance towards activities promoting good health
• flexible working conditions
Sweden's extensive social welfare system means, for example, that you are entitled to 390 days of paid parental leave, and education at all levels is free.

Chalmers offers courses in the Swedish language. Although most of our work is in English, and English is widely spoken throughout Swedish society, developing a good knowledge of Swedish is an advantage in everyday life and in the workplace, and we offer to help you unlock this dimension of life in Sweden.
