The Arena
AstraZeneca is currently making large investments to increase our research capability in Inhaled Pharmaceuticals, in Mölndal, Sweden. We are investing in new equipment, new technologies and more people. We now aim to increase the number of people working with Product Development for Inhalation by 50%. We therefore seek people with knowledge in various skills relevant for inhaled drug delivery, such as formulation science, analytical chemistry, solid state properties, device development and biopharmaceutical sciences.
AstraZeneca Mölndal is one of AstraZenecas three core sites for drug research, with about 2.500 employees at site. At Product Development, Sweden, a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Development, we focus on the fields of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and on Respiratory, Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases. Within Product Development Inhalation we have an exciting pipeline, consisting of both new molecules and new devices. The unit currently comprises 80 people, dedicated to research and development for new inhaled drug products and we want you to be a part of growing our expertise in this area.
The Role
Product Development is looking for an enthusiastic Solid State/Material Science Expert who, along with having significant project responsibility, will provide input in the area of solid state/material science strategy during the formulation development of orally inhaled drug products.
As scientific leader, you will be facilitating the communication of threat and opportunities in the inhalation project portfolio associated to solid state/ material science.
The role is primarily laboratory based, where a combination of theoretical and technical expertise in material science is a must, as e.g. the solid-state composition of a powder inhalation formulation is considered to be one of the critical quality attributes.
More specifically, you will
Have an expert understanding of solid state matter and associated phase transitions, including e.g. molecular to macroscopic material properties of condensed matter in single and multi-component systems.....
