Associate Principal Scientist, in vivo phenotyping- Mölndal

Job description

The Arena

The transgenic core unit sits within the Reagents and Assay Development (RAD) department under the Discovery Science (DS) function. Within the transgenic unit, there are 4 core scientific disciplines that aim to ensure the group is at the scientific forefront and performs world leading science and innovation.

We are seeking a highly motivated discipline leader for the in vivo physiology discipline. This position is based at the AstraZeneca R&D site in Mölndal, Sweden.

Role and Responsibilities

The role includes

• Develop and drive the discipline with full engagement to ensure the discipline operates at the scientific forefront using world leading technologies and infrastructure

• The projects and studies performed are conducted with quality, dedication and data delivered according to stipulated time lines and project requirements

• Discuss scientific questions for particular projects and design study protocols and programs to support drug development program progression

• Compile, interpret, present and discuss data with key project teams and stakeholders

• Open and comprehensive scientific mindset to enable multidisciplinary support for a large variety of projects originating from different functions within AstraZeneca

• Actively highlight and make the discipline activities visible for the organization

• Hands on activities in the lab when required for timely project progression - of central importance is experience with in vivo experimentation using mice

Minimum Requirements -Education and Experience

We seek a Ph.D. level scientist with vast experience to independently lead and drive science and engage, initiate and develop collaborations - both cross functional and with external partners.

The candidate is socially gifted and interacts with scientists globally to ensure most critical activities are supported with appropriate studies. The role also includes to team up with scientists from various functions and to bring knowledge to develop and (co-)drive projects outside the ordinary arena.

The infrastructure and current technical platform contain world leading components to gain deep and advanced understanding of mouse physiology. This investment needs to be used to its full extent. Activities are ongoing to network with academic partners (and investors, companies etc.) and investigate possibilities for external scientists to utilize the platform and linked information.

The candidate should display deep scientific understanding, comprehend limitations and possibilities with such animal experimentation, and use an established academic network for strategic alliances. A number of such strategic initiatives are ongoing and need full attention and progression.
