Inhalation Product Development is looking for an Associate Principal Scientist in Formulation Science who will provide input in the dry powder formulation development of inhaled drug products.
As recognized scientific leader, you will contribute to the development of inhalation technologies and processes and in order to bring about opportunities in the inhaled product portfolio associated to Formulation Science.
Your profound experience gained in formulation development coupled with your track record of scientific communication in the field would be an advantage in this role.
You will provide scientific and technical expertise and act as a problem-solving connection in projects by active collaboration in teams.
The role will require laboratory based activities, where a combination of theoretical and technical expertise in formulation science is a must together with a good understanding of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing processes.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced Formulation Scientist, with at least 5 years of Product Development experience (Pharmaceutical industry or similar), and with MSc graduate(s) typically from pharmaceutics, chemistry or physics but also engineers with relevant skills. Experience of laboratory work is a requirement. A PhD in a relevant topic would be an advantage. A track record of people development is highly desirable through e.g. technical supervision, coaching, mentoring and/or leading small team of scientists or scientific projects.
The career level of the position will be set according to the background of the applicant.
Skills and capabilities
An excellent appreciation of formulation science.
An excellent appreciation of pharmaceutical science and technology.
A good understanding of powders, including analysis techniques for determining physical properties, e.g. particle size and particle size distribution, shape, density and powder rheology.
An understanding of excipients used for pharmaceutical development.
An understanding of solid state properties and associated phase transitions of API and excipients, and how these link to formulation stability and processability.
A knowledge of imaging and solid state techniques e.g. SEM, optical microscopy, DSC, GVS, TGA and vibrational spectroscopy etc. would be an advantage.
A documented track record in formulation science
A track record of supervision experience.
Experience of international collaborations.
Publications in scientific journals.
Strong team working and networking skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline environment
Ability to demonstrate drive and energy to deliver results and projects
Flexible and able to respond to changing business needs
Evidence of good communication skills and building good relationship with customers
Strong ability to coach, develop and give feedback to other scientists and engineers
Leadership in field of Formulation Science
Collaborative working across functions or countries (working language will be English)
