We have an opening for an Associate Principal Scientist - High-Throughput Experimentation in Synthetic Chemistry, and you will be working within the department of Early Respiratory & Immunology (R&I) at AstraZeneca's dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.

What you'll do
In your role, as an Associate Principal Scientist - High-Throughput Experimentation in Synthetic Chemistry you will be an integrated part of the Chemistry Centre of Excellence. With your key expertise in a range of technologies such as modern organic chemistry, automation, and information handling you will collaborate with medicinal chemistry teams delivering efficient, sustainable and innovative routes to target molecules. You will be part of a global vibrant and growing group of scientists dedicated to HTE and will be joining a cutting-edge pharmaceutical lab with access to state-of-the-art HTE equipment and automation.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Lead HTE chemistry delivering innovative routes to AstraZeneca's portfolio of drug projects.
• Support full integration of HTE in medicinal chemistry projects including training of peers
• Outline strategic direction for HTE within the Chemistry Centre of Excellence in Gothenburg
• Develop and maintain a state-of-the-art HTE facility, develop best practices and establish external collaborations
Essential for the role
• PhD degree in Organic Chemistry or equivalent
• >3 years of relevant professional experience after PhD
• Recent practical experience in organic synthesis and HTE, including automation, relevant analytical techniques, statistical experimental design, and data workflows
• Excellent understanding of synthetic reagents and methodologies, reaction mechanisms and modern analytical techniques
• Awareness of recent literature, current developments and trends in organic synthesis
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including scientific writing
