We are looking for an experienced Associate Principal Scientist to drive the analytical characterization of oligonucleotides across AstraZeneca's Antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) and siRNA portfolio. As a candidate you should have a strong working knowledge of the field of analytical science, encompassing the technical and equipment knowledge and understanding of data requirements to support the analytical characterization of synthetic oligonucleotides.

This role is based at AstraZeneca's dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.

What you'll do:
You will work closely with colleagues across different AstraZeneca functions such as Respiratory & Immunology (R&I), Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) and Discovery Sciences (DS). You will collaborate with synthetic and computational chemists to develop excellent analytical technology and data solutions and support novel machine learning applications. A passion for working in new scientific areas and developing solutions to technical and project challenges is a key requirement for the role.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

Provide analytical expertise in the chemical characterization of synthetic oligonucleotides such as hands on characterization, analytical method development and troubleshooting
*

Assess new science and technology innovations for analytical characterization of oligonucleotides and oligonucleotide conjugates
*

Support advances in data flows including analytical data processing capabilities, support of FAIR data and machine learning applications
*

Work with AZ partner organisations to ensure front-end analytical instrumentation and novel software solutions around oligonucleotide analytics
*

Lead internal science in the field of Analytical Chemistry
*

Contribute publications, posters, oral conference presentations internally and externally and participate in local/global AstraZeneca workstreams

Essential for the role

*

PhD in a relevant subject area (for example separation science and/or mass spectrometry) providing expertise for this role
*

A strong working knowledge and experience in the field of analytical science
*

Expert in separation science and mass spectrometry (In-depth, hands-on expertise and up-to-date knowledge) with documented experience of developing and troubleshooting analytical methods
*

Ability to operate across functional and discipline boundaries
*

Strong problem-solving, in depth technical and personal skills
*

Strong scientific track record
