Duties and responsibilities of the role:
The role of an Associate involves the application of economic concepts in relation to competition policy issues. Key responsibilities include:
Providing general consulting advice and assistance in relation to economics and competition issues researching and evaluating key industry dynamics;
Applying quantitative and qualitative techniques to analytical problems;
Providing advice and assistance in respect of economic and competition analysis;
Using economic formulas and models to provide information required for decision making;
Reviewing, summarising and analysing data, including data cleaning, the analysis of market shares, consumer behaviour, profitability, demand estimation and other econometric analysis;
Researching and summarizing economic literature;
Written communications, both internal and external, including emails, notes, assisting in drafting of responses to Requests for Information;
Drafting short documents and sections of longer economic reports that provide advice or expert economic opinions on competition law and policy matters ;
Participation in meetings, either remotely or in person, with lawyers and clients.
Requirements
A degree in economics, preferably to Masters level
Must have an interest in microeconomics, industrial organisation or econometrics
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Able to meet multiple deadlines and work with multi-faceted and demanding clients
