BAT FIEDLER & LUNDGREN IS LOOKING FOR AN ASSISTANT-SMOKELESS SENSORY & FLAVOUR
SENIORITY LEVEL: Non-management

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
This is a key role within the sensory team and will be focused on providing support for smokeless product development projects, including but not limited to:
o Maintaining operation of multiple sensory panels; please note that sensory panels are held Monday to Thursday early evenings thus the candidate is required to run these sessions.
o Assisting the flavour team with development projects and maintaining organization of the sensory/flavour lab
o Under direction of the sensory & flavour manager, leading the smokeless flavour evaluation program
The role will be technical and requires a basic understanding of project management and a basic ability to analyse, interpret and communicate data
Reports to: Sensory & Flavour Manager
Reporting Level: Manages self

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
Manages day to day execution of sensory panels, including managing product inventory and efficient preparation of samples according to the test design. Schedules testing dates, attends evaluation sessions, and monitors panellist attendance to ensure timely delivery of results.
Assists the Sensory Scientist I as needed with questionnaire programming, recruitment, and screening of new panellists, training, and monitoring performance of sensory panellists
Assists the flavour team with preparation of flavours and test samples, ensuring good organization of the sensory/ flavour lab
Under direction of the sensory & flavour manager, lead product stability initiatives according to an established practice, including batch sample production, panel setup, evaluation, and reporting.
Procures commercial product and maintains inventory for sensory and flavour samples. Coordinates international product shipments to support Northern Europe and other end markets
Undertakes training and technical/ professional development to ensure career development and execution according to best practices
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
A science degree in the field of food science or a Bachelor of Science is a plus
Experience working in a sensory and/ or as an assistant in a flavour lab
Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate data with guidance from sensory leadership
Planning and implementation skills; basic project management skills
Ability to ensure projects are delivered on time, to budget and at targeted quality
Ability to identify and communicate process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of testing
Maintains relationships with internal and external contacts to provide high quality customer service
BENEFICIAL
Experience with Microsoft suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
Knowledge or willingness to learn smokeless processing technology, research and development processes, manufacturing, or quality.
