To support the development and maintenance of the State of Democracy Network Website (SoD Website);
To support the strengthening of the State of Democracy and State of Local Democracy Network;
Responsible for organising events planned under the programme;
To assist and support on-going activities within the Programme as needed.
Under the immediate supervision of the Head of Programme the incumbent performs the following duties:
Responsible for the development, regular update and maintenance of the SoD Network website (www.idea.int/sod);
Supports production processes and targeted dissemination of publications and other products developed under the SoD Programme;
Supports the strengthening of the SoD Network, and development of the SoLD Network and proposing innovative ways of facilitating vibrancy of these networks through among others implementing the recommendations of a survey conducted among network members;
Assists and provides support as needed, on-going activities within the programme;
Organises events planned under the programme such as seminars, workshops and similar;
Ensures that all defined cross-cutting themes (gender, diversity and conflict) are integrated into areas of work he/she is responsible for;
Works closely with members of the SoD team; and deliberately explores and integrates into his/her work synergistic and collaborative ways of working with other International IDEA programmes both in Headquarters and the field;
Performs other duties related to the SoD programme as requested by the Line Manager.
Level and type of formal education:
University degree in political or social sciences, law, economics, international development or a related subject
Professional experience:
A minimum of 3 year experience working within the democracy and/or governance field is required;
Experience in the design of web based resources is required
Experience working in international, multi-cultural, Inter-Governmental context will be a great advantage;
Relevant field experience in any one of International IDEA?s focus regions (Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Arab World) would be an asset.
Functional competencies:
High analytical capacity;
Ability to provide inputs for conceptualising strategies and designing programmes of work;
Knowledge of democracy and governance assessment and measurement tools and methodologies;
Proven experience working with web-based sources;
Ability to build, maintain and service broad networks of partners;
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in teams;
Good project management skills, especially within a results based management contex;
Ability to operate effectively in a multi-cultural environment and be Gender-sensitive;
Excellent oral communication, public presentation, and drafting skills.
Language skills:
English: Fluent written and oral
Other: Any other widely spoken language in an International IDEA priority region is considered an asset.
Computer skills:
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, databases, internet and web search tools.
Knowledge of web design
Social Media Tools
Terms of contract:
Local Post, 6 months fixed term appointment.
Please note as this is a local post, International IDEA will bear no costs relating to relocation of the selected candidate to the duty station. This position is open to those legally authorized to work in Sweden.
