As part of our ambitions, Chalmers seeks curious and creative individuals to join us as tenure-track Assistant Professors. We are looking for candidates with innovative research ideas who seek scientific freedom to pursue their aspirations.

A four-year tenure track position is provided with a generous start-up package, relocation support, mentoring, and leadership training to further your development as research leader and teacher. Through our cross-departmental Areas of Advance, you will have the opportunity to find collaborations and grow networks both within the university and with our industrial and societal partners.

The applications will be reviewed during March - June, and interviews are planned for August - September 2024. Starting date is flexible but preferably not later than the first half of 2025.

Production: Achieving sustainable industrial development
All aspects of production are undergoing rapid transformation, driven by the digital revolution, societal electrification and strive for sustainable industrial development. At Chalmers, we are at the forefront of these changes, driving innovation in sustainable production that aligns with this evolution.

Production at Chalmers is a national strategic research environment with a unique collaboration culture across core research groups in mechanical and manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering and microtechnology. We are challenge-driven, focusing on four key areas: digitalized production systems, scalable and robust manufacturing processes, digital product and process development, and production in circular economy. The research is carried out in close cooperation with industry.

We are committed to enhancing sustainable and innovative production by employing advanced methods, and tools. This includes creation, implementation, and application of novel or improved manufacturing technologies, the implementation and use of digital solutions for resource efficient product and process development, virtual and augmented reality solutions in all its dimensions, and novel solutions in automation or innovations in production logistics.

The Production area at Chalmers hosts several research and innovation centres (Centres | Chalmers) that serve as arenas for close cooperation with industry and research institutes, both in Sweden and internationally. Among these are the Vinnova Competence Centre for Additive Manufacturing - Metals (CAM2), the Wingquist Laboratory, the Metal Cutting Research Centre (MCR), the Swedish Life Cycle Centre (SLC) and the Centre for Process Engineering (CPE). Innovation laboratories like Stena Industry Innovation Laboratory (SII-LAB - Stena Industry Innovation Lab) provide unique test beds and Chalmers is also a core member of EIT Manufacturing (EIT Manufacturing - European manufacturers together).
