As part of our ambitions, Chalmers seeks curious and creative individuals to join us as tenure-track Assistant Professors. We are looking for candidates with innovative research ideas who seek scientific freedom to pursue their aspirations.

A four-year tenure track position is provided with a generous start-up package, relocation support, mentoring, and leadership training to further your development as research leader and teacher. Through our cross-departmental Areas of Advance, you will have the opportunity to find collaborations and grow networks both within the university and with our industrial and societal partners.

Health Engineering: Addressing health-related societal challenges
Working with health research at Chalmers provides you with the opportunity to address a broad range of health-related scientific challenges. Within the area of Health Engineering, Chalmers' researchers across all departments join forces using cross disciplinary approaches to meet global health-related challenges according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Therefore, the mission for the Health Engineering Area of Advance is to facilitate collaborations between researchers at Chalmers and other leading institutions to tackle emerging global health challenges. We work closely with the University of Gothenburg, the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and the West Sweden Regional healthcare authority but also with other academic and medical organisations.

This well-established ecosystem offers opportunities for you to improve human health, and creates possibilities to quicker test and implement solutions, based on both fundamental and applied research, directly to patients. Competence centers provide strong scientific environments for cross-disciplinary collaboration: The Centre for Healthcare Architecture, the Chalmers Artificial Intelligence Research Centre, the clinical Centre for Bionics and Pain Research, Centre for Antibiotic Resistance Research CARe, the industrial research centre FormulaEx, the Collaborative platform for Health Care Improvement and the national programme on Data-Driven Life Science.

Our close relations to the Health- and Life Science industry, the Chalmers Innovation Office and Chalmers Ventures create opportunities for utilisation of research and entrepreneurial support for start-up companies. Educational initiatives from bachelor and master levels to PhD candidates and medical practitioners at the Sahlgrenska hospital foster development of educational communities for teachers and researchers that promotes interdisciplinary competence development in the health engineering field.

State-of-the art infrastructures support more than 200 health researchers across all of Chalmers departments. This includes the computational infrastructures E-commons, Infravis and Computational Systems Biology Infrastructure providing resources on local and national level. The experimental infrastructures for chemical, biological and materials research include Chemical imaging, Chalmers Mass Spectrometry Infrastructure, Chalmers Materials Analysis Laboratory and MyFab clean room facility.

Research profiles within Health Engineering Area of Advance includes: (i) Medical Engineering; (ii) Infection, diagnostics, and drug delivery; (iii) Digitalisation, Big Data and artificial intelligence; (iv) Systems and environments for health and healthcare; and (v) Prevention, lifestyle and ergonomics. In addition, Chalmers is deeply involved in the rapid development of technologies for new medical treatments related to cell, gene- and tissue engineering.
