We encourage individual growth in an open-minded, collaborative, and positive working environment, and look forward to your contribution to the team!

We are looking for up to two highly motivated Assistant Professors to join us at the division of Electric Power Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering.

The department and the division
At the Department of Electrical Engineering, we see the value in all of our co-workers. We know that a variety of personalities and experiences makes the most creative workplaces. We therefore encourage applicants with any gender, background and abilities to apply for the position. We aim to create a positive impact on the development of society environmentally, socially and economically.

At the Division of Electric Power Engineering, we conduct research within a broad range of topics in electric power technology. Areas of research at the Division include (but are not limited to) power systems, power electronics, electrical machines and drives, high-voltage engineering, batteries and energy storage. Our research is conducted in tight cooperation with industrial partners. Our research is based on a solid theoretical basis and extensive experimental verifications in our laboratories as well as in the field. Research activities at the division are organized within two research units: 1) Power Grids and Components, and 2) Electrical Machines and Power Electronics. More information about ongoing activities at our division can be found at the following link:

Major responsibilities
You will play an important role in contributing to our research and education activities. Your main tasks will include formulating and executing research projects, attracting research funding, and supporting post doctoral researchers and doctoral students. The pedagogical tasks include teaching in courses at graduate and undergraduate levels, supervising bachelor and master thesis students. Other important aspects of the position include providing information and communicating about research and current development in the subject area, as well as cooperating within academia, industry and with society at large.

Your profile
You are an independent researcher with a PhD degree in electric power engineering or equivalent field, not older than 7 years prior to the application deadline*. Exceptions can be made for longer periods of documented leave-of-absence resulting from parental leave, sick leave or military service.

We would like you to have at least 1 year of experience in academia or industry after receiving your PhD. You should have experience in formulating research ideas and contributing to developing successful proposals for research and innovation projects. Aiming at high-quality research and teaching activities, as well as experience in experimental work prototyping, are meritorious.

We would like you to have a demonstrated interest in teaching. The typical percentage of the pedagogical tasks is up to 20% of the total working time.

You have the ability to network and connect with different stakeholders, both nationally and internationally. You enjoy working in a team and have experience in managing projects.

The positions require sound verbal and written communication skills in English. If Swedish is not your native language, Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

• The date shown in your doctoral degree certificate is the date we use, as this is the date you have met all requirements for the doctoral degree.

Contract terms
The appointment as Assistant Professor is a four-year, entry-level, faculty position with tenure track, whereby you will acquire both pedagogical and research qualifications. An Assistant Professor is expected to improve their ability to formulate and solve scientific problems, to publish scientific articles, and to develop their skills in teaching and supervision, by means of both practical training and independent study. The aim is to achieve the level of Associate Professor within four years and, if successful, you will be offered a permanent faculty position at Chalmers.
