The discipline of Economics at JIBS is expanding and provides unique possibilities for new colleagues to contribute to the development of the discipline. The Economics discipline is a modern economics department particularly strong in the areas of Regional Economics and Entrepreneurship. Other areas of research include development economics, labor economics, and health economics. A substantial part of the research in Economics is applied.
Economics at JIBS offer an environment which values high quality teaching and research. JIBS is seeking candidates for full-time Assistant Professor in Economics starting in August 2019. The candidates should have a strong interest in teaching and in doing research influencing both academics and practitioners. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, as well as a clear vocation for academia.
OUR OFFER TO YOU
The holders of the positions will be a part of the discipline of Economics at JIBS. The work tasks contain e.g. teaching activities at undergraduate and graduate level, research, supervision and other services to JIBS that are related to the position. The positions are teaching oriented (80%), and teaching is distributed over the different parts of the academic year and performed primarily in English.
The holders of the positions are expected to apply for externally funded research grants (which can be used to change the division between research and teaching) and contribute with new knowledge that strengthen JIBS in the focus areas Entrepreneurship, Ownership and Renewal. It is of high priority to have a strong academic and collegial milieu in Economics, and physical presence at the workplace is therefore also important.
YOUR PROFILE
You hold a PhD in Economics (or equivalent academic competence). You have documented teaching expertise and experience and have taken a course in teaching and learning in higher education (or acquired the knowledge through experience). You have a strong research profile. Furthermore, you have proven abilities to interact with business and society and have demonstrated an ability to plan, organize and prioritize work effectively. You are fluent in written and spoken English and have excellent communicating skills.
It's meritorious if you have:
- Experience of applying for and obtaining external funding;
- Experience of course coordination and development;
- Teaching experience equal to 1 year;
- Experience of academic and/or industry leadership;
- Professional experience from industry.
In the selection process, we will put emphasis on the person's ability to taking initiatives, being autonomous and flexible as well as having the ability to co-operate with colleagues. You should be willing to contribute to a dynamic academic environment by spending the majority of working time at JIBS and be willing to get established in Jönköping.

The positions are permanent and full-time with an initial probationary period. Starting date is in August 2019 or as agreed upon.
