hela Sverige The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) is a department at Karolinska Institutet and an interdisciplinary research institution within the broad field of environmental medicine. IMM conducts cutting edge research within the areas of environmental and occupational medicine, toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics with the aim to clarify how environmental and lifestyle factors affect our health and which role genes have. IMM also serves as a scientific advisor to public authorities within the area of environmental medicine and IMM scientists participate in national and international expert groups.
Division
The position is located at the Unit of Biochemical Toxicology at IMM.
The Unit of Biochemical Toxicology at IMM performs studies to understand the connection between chemicals and cancer.
Duties
The applicant is required to conduct experimental research in chemical-induced carcinogenesis, gender differences in cancer susceptibility and in interdisciplinary projects on the development of text-mining approaches for cancer risk assessment and cancer research. The applicant is also expected to participate in risk assessment activities and teaching in toxicology at IMM.
Entry requirements
A person is eligible to be appointed as Assistant Professor if they have been awarded a Degree of Doctor or have achieved the corresponding scientific competence. The persons appointed should primarily be ones who have been granted a Degree of Doctor or have reached the corresponding competence no more than seven years before the end of the application period.
A candidate should have a good understanding and experience in the area of experimental chemical carcinogenesis and text mining based approaches. Experience in interdisciplinary research projects is a merit. Most of the projects are conducted in international collaboration; therefore, previous experience from international collaborations is an asset. Other merits include experience in risk assessment, teaching and supervision of students.

An Assistant professor position is a fixed-term position. The first employment should be two years, with a possible extension of two years after evaluation.
