See complete advert: www.jobb.umu.se
The Department of Physics has a staff of approximately 90 people. Among them are 12 professors, 28 lecturers, 10 technical/administrative staff, and about 40 PhD students and post docs. The department is involved in undergraduate and graduate education, and research. Strong research areas include organic electronics, photonics, condensed matter physics, and several branches of theoretical physics.
We are now accepting applications for a position as assistant professor in the field of printed organic electronic devices. The new research program has received funding for the salary costs of the successful applicant and two PhD students for five years. The opportunities for additional start-up funding in the range €500,000 – 1,000,000 are considered good.
The successful applicant is expected to have documented experience in the area of printed organic electronic devices. Moreover, it is considered an advantage if the applicant has experience in the fabrication and characterization of energy conversion devices, such as organic solar cells.
The research is expected to be carried out in close collaboration with existing activities within organic electronics (see, e.g., www.phys.umu.se/opeg), and the new activity will also participate in and create internal and external collaborations. An important task is to raise support from external funding agencies, and it is further desirable if the new activity can develop so that it can be incorporated in joint projects with industry.
Candidates for this position should have a PhD degree or equivalent, preferably not more than five years old. When evaluating the applicants, particular emphasis will be put on scientific skills. Pedagogical and administrative skills, and the ability to collaborate with other researchers and industry will also be considered in the evaluation.
Note, in order to be considered, applications must include copies of reprints. If the application is in paper form, all items above must be submitted in two copies.
