AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry have an immediate opening as Asset Management Director. If you want to work in an international environment where people and business are growing, this is the place for you!

The Asset Management Director position will be responsible for managing capital project deployments (including asset integrity projects), Industrial IT and SAP asset optimization efforts. The position will have ownership over all of these areas inclusive of, but not restricted to, governance, budget, resources, schedule. A structure will also be required around how the local project teams are staffed from the regions and how it will indirectly report into this structure. In addition, this position will interface with the AkzoNobel Advanced Manufacturing Project and Engineering (AMPE), Corporate Excellence and Business Area functional teams and the Investment Review Group team (Business Area).

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement a long term Asset management strategy based on key business strategic drivers and commercial strategy. Involve, engage and influence key stakeholders in the BUMT. Determine long term BU investment needs.

• Secure a high technical availability and reliability of the plants, setting strategies when dealing with aging assets

• Collaborate with BA and COEs to set, implement and ensure efficient processes for the several aspects of Asset Management (Long Term Asset Planning, Turnaround management, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Contracting and contractor management.)

• Embed improved ways of working also in the culture and competencies of the organization

• Management of project managers (including P&E) across Surface Chemistry ISC and indirect management of the local project, PSM and AI resources

• Budget, schedule and resource direct line for projects, Industrial IT and SAP asset Projects. Strong coordination with Industrial IT, IM & BA functional office as well as SBU stakeholders

• Serve as Helios Champion and Subject matter expert of the Helios methodology and the small capex process

• Be the Gatekeeper/toll gate governance for large capex projects.

• Manage P&E resources in support of planning and execution.

• Coordinate and hold routine planning meetings with AkzoNobel P&E on future resource requirements for large capex projects that are planned to go through the Helios phases, and support for smaller capex projects.

• Coordinate and hold routine planning meetings with Controller for future AR submissions; align with Investment Review Group for large capex

• Responsible for the management of corporate P&E services in the business and the P&E SLA

• All business direct Project Managers would report functionally (and possibly administrative) to this role

• Keeps Business 3-5 year capex plans

• Drives predictable annual Capex spending

• Responsible for Capex Performance Metrics for Business

• Forecasts for the P&E services for the business

• Develop and maintain project engineering standards for BU SC

This is a permanent position on a full time basis located in Stenungsund, Sweden; Chicago, IL or Houston, TX.

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent required
• Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technology or Engineering preferred
• Minimum of 5+ years of large scale projects, PSM and asset integrity leadership
• Minimum of 3+ years of specialty chemical industrial reliability, asset management and project portfolio management
• Minimum of 3 years experience in implementing industrial IT solutions and advanced process control and digitalization of plants and process
• Ability to lead highly technical cross-functional teams
• Ability to manage multiple large scale vendor contracts across multiple technologies
• Excellent communication & leadership skills
• Ability to mentor, recruit and retain key talent
• Positive, flexible, open-minded approach towards work assignments
• Flexible work hour and travel schedule per global deployment requirements
• Good interpersonal skills with a natural ability to work with and support colleagues, ability to adapt to and work effectively with clients and co-workers with different styles and levels of technical knowledge
• Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision and work well under pressure
• Partner with the business to drive organizational change management
• Partner with the business and IT organizations on direction and prioritization
• Ability to prioritize, manage, and handle multiple tasks at one time
• Full knowledge of program deployment to support transition and best practices
• Ability to communicate and interact in a global organization
• Fluent in English, other languages are a plus
