The backend team is responsible for a wide variety of features related to data annotation. One of those is our Tools App, which is used for configuring, tracking and operating annotation projects. What initially started as a small internal tool has grown quite rapidly over the last year. We're looking for someone to drive development of the Tools App further, allowing it to be more incorporated into the annotell platform.
Our stack
The majority of backend services are built with Scala. Python is also used every now and then when developing libraries for interacting with our APIs. Our Tools App for managing annotation projects is developed in Typescript and React. The complete solution is delivered using Kubernetes on Google Cloud. For data storage we use a combination of Postgres, ElasticSearch and Google Cloud Storage / Amazon S3.
Who you are
This position requires you to work across different technologies (frontend and backend) as well as interacting with different stakeholders, from engineers to project managers. As such, we believe that you are a person who enjoys being involved in all parts of software development, thinking about requirements and needs, designing a solution and implementing it across both stacks (frontend and backend).
We expect that you have some previous experience from working with either frontend or backend systems, hopefully with a technology stack that is similar to the one we use. We don't expect you to be a full stack developer, the most important aspect is that you're willing to learn and fill any knowledge or technology gaps you might have.
