Who we are
Workshop WiFi is a function used for connecting vehicles wirelessly to the workshop tool (VIDA) in the workshop premises during workshop visits. The function has been rolled out worldwide during the last year and the workshops are nowadays using WiFi more than the traditional cable connection. This function is a very important prerequisite to reach business goals related to customer convenience and workshop efficiency.
The function is about to be implemented in the latest version of Volvo Cars infotainment platform which means an extra workload to ensure that the new implementation on the vehicle side corresponds to the functional requirements and expectations. The function is distributed both on- and off-board and has requirements on IT-infrastructure, vehicle implementation, and VIDA application. This makes the function quite complex and there has historically been a lot of quality issues to make the function work properly. The overall responsibility for the E2E verification of the realization is within R&Ds responsibility but has historically been done in close collaboration and with resources from Volvo Cars Service Business (VCSB). The overall responsibility for the verification of E2E realization has during the past year been taken over by R&D but due to the complexity of the work, there is still a need to follow-up and monitor the status and quality of the function. Meanwhile, VCSB also needs to understand and define what competence that is needed for the function, related to analysis and verification, in the long-term.
