Background
The Nanoelectronics department's Nanosystems group, with locations in Kista, Gothenburg and Norrköping, works with electronic system integration of advanced, novel nano-devices for communications, imaging and sensor applications. Our vision is to be the bridge to allow the faster implementation of nanotechnology into electronic systems. This allows us to work on the forefront of many fields of research to produce ground-breaking advances in the performance of exciting new products.
Together with industry and academia, Acreo develops and industrializes new materials and components within the electronic and optical domains. The Nanosystems group develops the signal extraction and enhancement methodology, signal processing, readout and conditioning for sensor applications. In addition, we work with advanced communication systems using state-of-the-art nanoscale components for frequencies from kHz to THz and optical devices for the infrared to x-ray wavelengths. We are also currently developing low power integrated circuit components in advanced CMOS technologies.
Acreo is a research institute with activities that range from research to near product development which provides a stimulating and varied blend of academic and applied R&D.
Your tasks
You will design RF and microwave and millimeter wave antenna and antenna arrays using industry available substrate materials, such as FR4, LCP and Rogers. This will include the design of antenna systems using advanced simulation tools from Ansys (HFSS). You will investigate and apply state of the art knowledge of the latest antenna theory towards the design, simulate the performance and perform detailed layout of your design. Then you will oversee the manufacturing of the antenna in the context with other RF electronics. The design will include feeding networks as well as other RF circuit functions associated with phased array antenna systems for microwave and millimeter wave applications.
You will participate in a project team and perform antenna design activities including virtual design, and simulation as well as physical design. After production, you will then perform testing and verification of the antennas using RF test equipment and antenna chambers. Documentation of the results will be required.
The tools
We have an advanced CAD laboratory for your development which includes design tools from Ansys, Agilent, and Cadence. Examples of specific tools are ADS, HFSS and Matlab, Altium.
Your qualifications
You have proven analytical and design skills in antenna and RF design for high frequency applications. You have a PhD, and/or some years of work experience with designing PCB-based antenna systems, and are familiar with the design flows required for this. You have experience with electromagnetic simulation of antennas and other passive structures using full-field EM CAD software. A good base in electromagnetic and antenna theory and applications is important. It is also an advantage to have good PCB and basic electronic system design skills.
You are self-motivated and can work in a very structured way, by yourself and within small focused project groups. You are not afraid to take initiatives and appreciate personal responsibilities with the social competence. You like to work in small teams, where the members are multidisciplinary, and can divide your time between short-term and long-term projects. An interest in project management is also valuable.
Working at Acreo
The position is located at the Nanoelectronics department at Acreo Swedish ICT AB in Norrköpin but it is also possible to work from our group locations in Kista or Gothenburg. All locations are Acreo locations where advanced industrial research is performed.
