Job Overview

Android based platforms have grown as choice to base products on, due to time efficiency in development.



We are seeking a WiFi engineer! The successful candidate will demonstrate deep knowledge of the Android Wifi stack, from application layer down to Kernel, using several different profiles and protocols. You will define API's and collaborate with software engineers to specify architecture and performance targets.



You will analyze system performance, develop solutions for improvement, and achieve system performance targets. As a connectivity team member, you'll be responsible for designing, developing and optimizing WiFi networking software. You will be working across software stacks (Frameworks and API, UI, OS services, and drivers) to maintain and productize features collaboratively with the hardware and software teams.



You will work in all project phases and with all kinds of Android based products. And sometimes, with other embedded operating systems, such as Zephyr and FreeRTOS.



Role and Responsibility

Develop software in the Android WiFi stack; analyze, design, program, integrate, unit test and debug.

Work in teams with other software developers.

Interface customers on engineering level

Contribute in pre-studies and propose technical solutions

Collaborate with specialists and developers from other technical areas like hardware, audio and optics

Investigate and learn new product domains in context of need to design the correct solutions

Basic qualifications

Minimum Bachelor's in computer science or equal

Excellent industry knowledge and theoretical understanding of IEEE 802.11 specifications (a/b/g/n/ac/ax (WiFi 6) protocol stack

Strong knowledge in Rate vs. Range, Rate vs. Orientation tradeoff

Knowledge of C, C++ and Android architecture

Experience in validating WPA2/WPA3-PSK security protocols

Good Knowledge in TCP/UDP, IP protocols and understanding of basic OSI model

Strong knowledge on MIMO, SISO, MCS index, and general RF characteristics

Experience with hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets. e.g., GDB, wireless sniffers, packet tracing (tcpdump, wireshark)

Kernel networking stack knowledge and understanding of operating system fundamentals

Preferred additional skills, personal traits, experience
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in working with several different levels of the WiFi stack

Experience in working with Bluetooth or at least willing to learn

Experience in Java

Android applications experience is a plus

Experience in developing (big) systems of integrated functionality in software and hardware

Experience in developing consumer and industrial products

Development tools like Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Coverity

Creative debugging with multiple sources and techniques like debuggers, log analysis, signal analysis, and protocol sniffers

Personal characteristics

Willingness to learn new methods / tools / processes

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
