We are now looking for Analytical Chemists, to the Product Development Inhalation Unit, for a consultant assignment positioned at AstraZeneca in Mölndal. The assignment is to start in November 2015 and proceed until 2016-12-31.

AstraZeneca Mölndal is one of AstraZeneca's three core sites for drug research, with about 2,500 employees at site. At Product Development,Sweden, a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Development, we focus on the fields of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and on Respiratory, Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases. Within Product Development Inhalation we have an exciting pipeline, consisting of both new molecules and new devices. The unit currently comprises 80 people, dedicated to research and development for new inhaled drug products and we want you to be a part of growing our expertise in this area.

The Role
You will be a part of a team developing and optimizing our formulation platforms for inhaled drug projects. Your main focus will be on the analysis and characterization of new formulations for dry powder inhalers by different types of analytical techniques. You will also contribute to the development of new formulations. Examples of key attributes for the roles are the following, recognizing that each position may not have all of these:

• Be a part of, or lead, a cross functional project team, working on new inhaled formulations intended for clinical trials.
• Develop analytical methods for the analysis and quantification of different drug products based on LC, UPLC, UV and IR.
• Develop new characterization methods for our drug products.
• Perform validation of analytical methods according to ICH/GMP regulations.
• Characterize formulations, using impactor analysis, e.g. Next generation Impactor (NGI), Andersen Cascade Impactor (ACI), and laser diffraction methods.
• Apply various methods for particle sizing and powder flow.
• Record, assess and report large amount of data. Draw authoritative conclusions and make recommendations.
• Prepare documentation and formal reports in accordance with current standards.
• Work closely together with Device Development team.
• Perform Technology Transfer of drug product manufacturing processes and analytical methods.

Requirements
We are looking for both experts in analysis within the inhalation area who hold a PhD in relevant topic, and newly graduates typically from pharmaceutics, chemistry and chemical engineering with a passion to learn.

• Knowledge within Analytical Chemistry at a Masters or Ph D level.
• A passion for laboratory work and data generation.
• A passion for data handling and evaluation.
• A scientific and curious mindset with a willingness to learn.
• Ability to demonstrate drive and energy to deliver results and projects.
• A positive and constructive attitude, even when experiments doesn't go your way.
• Strong team working, networking skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline and multi-culture environment.
• Communication skills to present and report data in both Swedish and English.
• Flexible and able to respond to changing business needs.
