The Arena
AstraZeneca is currently making large investments to increase our research capability in Inhaled Pharmaceuticals, in Mölndal, Sweden. We are investing in new equipment, new technologies and more people. We now aim to increase the number of people working with Product Development for Inhalation by 50%. We therefore seek people with knowledge in various skills relevant for inhaled drug delivery, such as formulation science, analytical chemistry, solid state properties, device development and biopharmaceutical sciences.
AstraZeneca Mölndal is one of AstraZeneca's three core sites for drug research, with about 2.500 employees at site. At Product Development, Sweden, a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Development, we focus on the fields of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and on Respiratory, Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases. Within Product Development Inhalation we have an exciting pipeline, consisting of both new molecules and new devices. The unit currently comprises 80 people, dedicated to research and development for new inhaled drug products and we want you to be a part of growing our expertise in this area.
The Role
You will be part of a team developing and optimizing our formulation platforms for inhaled drug projects.
Your focus areas will be on the analysis and characterization of new formulations and products wrt leachables and extractables (from device components), foreign particulates and to be a liaison between the drug development teams and our skilled internal application specialists (e.g. NMR, MS).
You will provide scientific input to the exploration of future in-process-controls for product manufacturing (e.g.gravimetric and spectroscopic techniques and air flow measurements).
You will be a scientific point of contact for our use of external CRO's.
The role is primarily laboratory based and a broad experience of different modern analytical techniques is of great value.

Experience of standard analytical techniques, such as LC, UPLC, UV, IR and GC
Work closely together with Device Development team.
You are expected to challenge status quo with a genuine interest and energy.
Have genuine interest to interact with people from other scientific disciplines.
Record, assess and report large amount of data. Draw authoritative conclusions and make recommendations.
Prepare documentation and formal reports in accordance with current standards.
Apply technical knowledge and expertise to achieve project targets to agreed timelines and at appropriate quality level.
