hela Sverige The Measurement and Analytical Science (MAS) group is a part of RD&I EMEIA at AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry. The group works with analyses of exciting and newly developed products as well as with development and validation of analytical methods. We provide expertise in the area of analytical chemistry to our Global Research & Development and Technical Service & development groups in research projects along with customer complaints, production issues in the plants, other Business Units of AkzoNobel, and external customers.
We are now looking for an analytical chemist who will support the MAS team during a year. You will work mainly in the area of Wet Chemistry, but you will also collaborate with our other expertise areas Chromatography and Surface Chemistry Analyses.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
• Run analytical experiments using analytical methods and instruments such as automated titration, IR, UV/Vis, Karl Fischer. Measurements performed are for example density, viscosity, flash point and melting point.
• Interpret and report the results according to routines.
• Work with identification and quantification questions related to new product development, customer complaints, trouble shooting in production issues etc.
• Independently and in teams run assignments, in accordance to prioritizations.
• Take an active part in the lab by contributing to housekeeping in a positive way and work with continuous improvement; propose changes that promote safety, quality, reliability and efficiency.
Qualifications
We are looking for an analytical chemist holding a MSc in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering combined with at least 3 years of relevant experience from laboratory work, preferably working with a wide variety of analytical methods.
Key competencies:
• Skills in Wet Chemistry Analyses.
• General knowledge in chromatography, spectroscopy (IR, MS), and surface chemistry analyses.
• Good skills with regards to equipment and an expert in practical lab work.
• Good knowledge in organic chemistry.
• Able to handle complex and difficult assignments.
• Good problem solving ability.
• Good knowledge in Swedish and English both verbally and in writing.
On a personal level you are proactive and enjoy working both independently and in teams. You have a clear ability to work organized and have good communication and interpersonal skills.
