We are seeking a specialized Analytical Chemist that will play an important part in our iLAB team, focusing on the analysis and purification of chemical libraries. You'll have the opportunity to drive and extend the high-throughput purification capabilities within a pioneering automation platform at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg and directly impact drug discovery projects across various therapeutic areas.

What you will do:
This is an exciting role where you will drive the application of ground breaking separation methodologies in the context of automated chemistry & purification using robotic equipment. You will support the delivery of chemical libraries working in close collaboration with drug hunters across various scientific fields to change the way we pursue drug discovery. As well as work at the intersection of modern hit-finding technologies and parallel medicinal chemistry. Furthermore, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of the iLab by evaluating and incorporating new purification technologies.

In your daily work you will troubleshoot laboratory-based problems and make a significant contribution to the delivery of the team. As Separation Scientist, you will maintain access to the best internal and external science and enhance business reputation internally and externally through peer-reviewed publications and oral/poster presentations.

Essential for the role:
You're a separation scientist with a track record of applying innovative analytical chemistry solutions, with resulting impact in project delivery. You also have:

* Ph.D. in chemistry with relevant experience in analytical chemistry and separation sciences or M.Sc. with minimum 5 years of experience in these fields.
* Hands-on experience with library and/or high-throughput purification is highly desirable.
* In-depth expertise with HPLC-, UPLC- & SFC-chromatography on both analytical and preparative scale.
* Expertise in liquid handling technologies and laboratory automation is a plus.
* Advanced knowledge of modern chemical literature, chemical technologies and applying new ideas to project delivery.
* A track record of driving innovation in chemistry related sciences.

The successful candidate should be motivated to work in diverse teams and demonstrate ability to work across scientific fields to generate impact. We also believe that our new colleague is a great teammate who effectively can communicate, holds a scientific drive and a high interest in help identifying and developing novel therapies for patients. As well as have a detailed understanding of the chemical sciences and how they contribute and influence drug discovery together with knowledge of the drug discovery process.

Desirable in the role:

* Experience with LC software (MGears, Analytical Studio,...).
* Proficiency with other analytical techniques such as NMR, IR & MS.
* Experience in the analysis and visualization of data.
* Basic knowledge of synthetic chemistry.
* Knowledge of modern drug modalities such as PROTACs, molecular glues, peptides, etc. is a plus.
