Analysis/Test Engineer Durability Testing

The section Crash and Strength testing is responsible for facilities, test equipment and operation of test rigs. We deliver essential data in the form of measurement/test reports, measured data, photos and films to internal and external customers. We are also responsible for maintaining and updating the test equipment and for new investments in our labs.
Durability Lab is responsible for advanced test equipment for durability testing and measurements. We are performing testing in test lab and on test tracks to verify vehicle suspension, steering system, powertrain installation, car body, safety system, interior, climatic system, etc.
We have many new challenges due to the electrification of Volvo vehicles and we are now looking for an Analysis/Test Engineer to support the development of durability testing with electrical and active systems.

Main responsibilities

• Durability testing of components and systems with electric and hydraulic test equipment
• Create test sequences/scripts and perform analysis using software tools
• Together with test, design and CAE engineers develop and design test methods and equipment needed to support strength and durability testing of interior and exterior vehicle systems, which include electrical and active systems
• Develop equipment for component testing that replaces electrical sensors connected to the test object
• Develop equipment for the simulation of CAN communications that replaces components in the environment
• Instrumentation and data acquisition in lab and on test tracks
• Documentation of performed testing, measurements, and analysis

Required qualifications

• B.S.c or M.S.c. within Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, or equivalent
• Fluent in English both written and spoken
• Driver's license (B)
• Knowledgeable in CANoe, Matlab, Simulink, dSpace, Python or equivalent
• Previous testing experience is meritorious
• Knowledge of Measurement technology, transducers, and data acquisition systems is meritorious
• Ability to operate and use diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters, and other test equipment is an asset
• Proficient in modelling, simulation, troubleshooting and analysis of the car's electrical system is meritorious
• Interest in software programming is an asset
