The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publically funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm. The school runs the International Baccalaureate's frameworks for education. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) is offered to students from 12-16. The schools language of instruction is English for all subjects and the Diploma Programme (DP) is offered to students 16-19 years of age as a college preparatory programme. Thus at ISSR students receive an internationally-recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the center of Stockholm.
1 plats(er). This fall ISSR will need a English teacher to teach in the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
This fall ISSR will need a math teacher to teach in the Middle Years Programme (MYP)starting from January 7th 2013.
The position will consist of teaching English (language and literature) to grades 6-9, for a total of 3 courses. In addition, there will be duties beyond the classroom to engage the students in an after school activity such as a school newspaper or other literary/communication activity to contribute to the school community. The MYP is a very collaborative programme where teachers actively work together to plan interdisciplinary units, work on student care and working actively being a part of the school community.
Responsibilities include:
• Planning high quality lessons and ongoing documentation of student achievement
• Maintaining an engaging and organized learning environment
• Mentorship for approximately 20 student
• Maintaining ongoing parent/school communication
• Participating in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
• Supervising children during breaks
• Planning with colleagues across the school
• Continued professional development
A qualified candidate will be:
• A university educated teacher with certification from either Sweden or a native English speaking country
• Native English speaker (or near native fluency)
• Highly competent with IT (Windows platform, Smartboard and other tools for learning).
Löneform: Månadslön.
Anställningsform: Tidsbegränsad.
Krav på arbetslivserfarenhet: Erfarenhet krävs. * IB teaching experience and/or training (Understanding By Design also desirable)
Varaktighet: 3-6 månader.
Arbetstid: Dagtid. -95% with the potential to increase to 100% in August 2013.
