Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery AB is works with additive manufacturing (AM) as a new groundbreaking method for speeding up development of our gas & steam turbine components and repair commercial burners and manufacture better and better parts. At Siemens in Finspång more than 70 persons work full time with additive manufacturing, both in design R&D and in the workshop. We work with AM because it gives us higher performance of our gas & steam turbines, greater speed in the development of new solutions, more or less unlimited design freedom and because it uses less material and energy than conventional manufacturing processes. Siemens belongs to the most advanced users and developers of this type of technology. We are now seeking a senior cooling & heat transfer Expert as this is a core knowledge area for AM gas turbine designs
The challenge
• Team/Discipline lead of individual AM component design projects
- Gas turbine hot component gas path AM component design
- Thermal hydraulic calculation and validation of high temperature AM parts of gas turbines
- Risk assessment of AM component designs
• Act as mentor/coach for junior engineers
- Multidisciplinary collaboration - mechanical integrity, design, aero, manufacturing
- AM Methodology development
Who are you?
• Many years of experience within gas turbine R&D development and component design
- Expert in cooling and heat transfer
• MSc or equivalent
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
