Fingerprints is a Swedish biometric company with headquarter in Göteborg that markets, develops and produces biometric components and technologies that through the analysis and matching of an individual's unique fingerprint verify the person's identity. The technology consists of biometric sensors, processors, algorithms and modules. Fingerprints engages around 500 dedicated people at offices in Göteborg, Malmö, Linköping, Copenhagen, Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Taipei and Silicon Valley. Fingerprints shares are noted on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm.
At Fingerprints you will be working with the latest technology in a dynamic international environment, in a company under rapid development. You will be empowered with responsibilities and decision paths that are short and fast. Our people are engaged and each individual is important since our joint efforts contribute to our success.
www.fingerprints.com We are seeking engineers for algorithm development, to help us develop future biometric systems for smartphones and other devices. Fingerprints is a leader in the development of fingerprint sensors and designs the whole system solution, from advanced custom silicon devices and microelectronic packaging, to algorithms and software for biometric recognition and applications on target devices.
We are looking for talented and enterprising engineers for our algorithm team, located in Copenhagen and Gothenburg. As part of the team, you will join a significant R&D effort and play a key role in the development of biometric algorithms for current and future modalities, adapted to smartphones, PC's, smartcards as well as other devices and business segments. The algorithm team is a central part of R&D, and is characterized by a very high level of professional competence and experience as well as an open and innovative work environment.
The Job
Working with biometric images and data, your main responsibilities will include algorithm analysis, design, and implementation. Key metrics guiding your work will be biometric performance, implementation complexity, and architecture flexibility. You will work in close collaboration with teams responsible for HW and SW.
The right candidates match one or more of the following profiles, with Master or Ph.D. level academic qualifications:
• Machine learning: Knowledge of and experience with modelling, estimation and inference for data-driven applications of supervised and unsupervised learning. You have a solid understanding of and can apply state-of-the-art machine learning methods to pattern recognition problems such as feature extraction, alignment and classification. Methods and implementations that you have experience with could include feature and metric learning, (convolutional/deep) neural networks, support vector machines, convex/non-linear optimization, Bayesian estimation and inference as well as graphical models.
• Image / signal analysis and processing: Knowledge of and experience with image or general signal analysis and processing, with proficiency in several of the following: image registration, computer vision, optimization, sensor control and impairment corrections, classification, regression, clustering, in addition to general competences in statistics, signal analysis, computational geometry or adjacent areas. Ability to perform in-depth algorithmic analyses to identify trade-offs between effectiveness and efficiency, e.g. in order to operate within a given computational budget, or to perform system level optimizations.
Competences & Skills
You have a proven track-record in bringing your exceptional academic background to bear in a real-world engineering context, by efficiently bridging science and engineering.
Preferred candidates have:
• Documented industry experience in algorithm development (including result analysis and presentation), implementation, verification and optimization in a relevant field.
• Strong experience with imperative programming (specifically C / C++, Python, and Matlab). Experience with software architecture (e.g. complexity management, dependency and state reduction, cohesion, design patterns), as well as software development and software quality assurance processes.
• A team-oriented attitude, as well as the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.
This is an excellent opportunity for accomplished algorithm professionals to be part of a dedicated and highly competent team of peers. We offer challenging, intellectual projects, and competitive compensation.
