The department Design and Systems, Analysis and CAE within Product development, is responsible for special competences in selected areas, where air management is one important area. Air management consist of turbochargers and mechanical compressors. Other specialist areas within the department are fuel injection, piston systems, cooling systems, marine propulsion and exhaust after treatment. CAE and simulation is also included in the department.
Tasks
As a specialist in air management systems, you will take an active part in the design of turbo-charging systems for diesel engines. The engines are either fully developed by Volvo Penta or base engines from external suppliers with the marine conversion made by Volvo Penta. Engine components within the system are turbo-chargers, valves and mechanical compressors. As a air management specialist at Volvo Penta you will be working with the complete range of engines both for marine and industrial applications. You will work in the areas advanced engineering, projects and maintenance of products such as quality issues. You will work in close contact with the purchasing department, different projects, testing engineers and suppliers. The role of the air management specialist is to support the projects with technical know-how, propose technical solutions and being the technical interface between suppliers and Volvo Penta. As a specialist you will bring new technology into Volvo Penta and also do some teaching to Volvo Penta employees. Simulation of engine performance in a simulation tool can be added in this position.
Qualifications
M Sc. in relevant area
Experience from engine design is a qualification
Documented experience from turbo-charging development is essential
Good knowledge in Swedish and English language
