The team
The Advanced Analytics & AI organization is tasked with identifying opportunities for the application of data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning throughout the company, and then acting on those opportunities. In addition, we develop and operate tools and processes to accelerate and support all teams using data science and machine learning at Volvo Cars.
Our team is applying data science and machine learning to a broad array of product and business opportunities, deepening our understanding of our products and consumers, and building innovative products with data and machine learning.
We are now looking for an AI Product Manager to join our team in Gothenburg.
You and your skills
You are comfortable in the role as product manager. You understand business fundamentals and know how to empathize with users, to make sure we are building the right things while at the same time creating value.
Ideally you have a firm grasp of the possibilities and limitations of AI and machine learning, or at least a passion for the subject and a strong interest in developing this expertise.
Your technical skillset, likely acquired from past experience as a solution architect or backend engineer, allow you to participate and drive technical discussions of systems design and help you make technical trade-offs. You need to be comfortable with both cutting edge design patterns, as well as how to handle legacy systems that may be older than you. We are a new team, and you should be comfortable in the role as intrapreneur. Not everything is set in stone, and you are expected to be part of setting up best practices.
Strong collaboration and communication skills are important. You are expected to have an agile mindset, and the ability to guide data scientists, engineers and other product teams to the successful delivery of AI projects.
What you'll do
To make sure we are working on the most important opportunities, it is your job to find these opportunities, in collaboration with people from all over the company, on all levels. For this, you should act both as an evangelist and explainer of AI in our company.
You are expected to understand complex business challenges, develop hypotheses, compile business cases, understand how to integrate internal and external data sets, and effectively communicate your findings to both a technical and non-technical audience. You are expected to take the architectural perspective when evaluating potential projects. You will define product requirements, scope and success metrics to ensure customer and business goals are met.
You will work in close collaboration with business stakeholders, data scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers, product managers, developers and designers in the development of products and services.
