hela Sverige Aero-thermodynamics is a department within Product Development, responsible for the aerodynamic design and analysis of our products. We are the competence center for aerothermodynamics technology and method development within Volvo Aero. Today we are 27 employees of which 50% have a PhD degree. The people in the center of excellence take part in all stages of the product development process, from conceptual design studies, up until the verification of the aerodynamic function of the final product. We are also involved in manufacturing and product support after product launch.
The mission of our function is to assure that Volvo Aero can provide products with competitive aerodynamic functionality, where performance, efficiency and noise are key issues. The broad spectrum of our product offer demands state of the art research and development as well as specialist competence in a large field of aero-disciplines, such as aeroacoustics, aero mechanics, fluid-dynamics, CFD/numeric, combustion, heat-transfer, thermal analyses, low observability, performance and experimental verification. This is realized with our strategy to take part and lead international research programs on aero-engine aerodynamics and by building a strong competence network with national and international research institutes and universities.
Job description
Centre of Excellence Aerothermodynamics has open positions in the field of aerothermal design and analysis. You will typically work with aerotermal design of turbomachinery blades, vanes, ducts or nozzles. Development and validation of aerothermodynamic tools and codes is also an important task. The work is done in product development projects, technology demonstrators and in research collaborations. It is often done in bilateral or multilateral collaboration with our partners in the EU as well as in the USA.
Qualifications
You are an engineer with an MSc degree in aerodynamics or a related field with industrial experience or hold a relevant PhD degree preferably with some year?s industrial experience, in the above areas.
You have a good understanding of the customers? needs and a good ability to communicate with those as well as with our research partners
You have a strong drive to develop, validate, present and implement new methods, tools and the theories on which they are based
You have good social skills, the ability to create effective networks and can take on a technical responsibility role in the future
You are proficient in English, which the Volvo Group language
Knowledge of Swedish is considered favorable
