Hot Structures is a Design Engineering department within GAS Engineering. The Department is the Product Centre for our static structural components located in the hot turbine exhaust of the engine. Hot Structures is responsible for building product knowledge to meet current and future business needs as well as support our programs with skilled engineers for the current fleet of products that ranges from product development to in-service life support.
Hot Structures teams also work close together with the Chief Engineering office with concept studies to develop new business opportunities as well as with the Research Centre to develop new and improved product concepts. The department consists of engineers from many different disciplines that all contribute to the design engineering activities.
The department Hot Structures now has a vacancy for a position as Aerodynamic Engineer to further develop and optimize our present and future products. The Aerodynamic Engineer is responsible for the Aerodynamic design of the engine components in the development projects. The Aerodynamic Engineer uses Computational Fluid Dynamics Methods and Tools to verify the aerodynamic performance of the components. Within the development project teams, the Aerodynamics Engineer will work with innovative concepts and improvements for reduced fuel burn by efficient and light-weight gas turbine engines parts for the future. There are also opportunities to work with design and methods development within internal cross functional teams as well as within external partnerships with other engine manufacturers and universities.
As an Aerodynamic Engineer there may also be opportunities and expectations to be flexible and work in other design engineering disciplines over time, e.g. Thermal, Solid Mechanics, etc.
Key Responsibilities
Aerodynamic Design and Analysis of engine structure components.
Use CFD and other numerical tools to verify the aerodynamic function and performance.
Non conformance analysis to evaluate impact of aerodynamic requirements.
Written reports to document the work performed that will be base for engineering substantiations.
Work within the design team to optimize the product to defined program targets.
Work with continuous improvement of hot structures products.
Work with development of aerodynamic methods and CFD validation.
Contribute to define and reach targets for the Aerodynamics discipline in line with the targets of the department.
