AE Combustion Development Engineer, Gasoline Engines

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As AE COMBUSTION DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER GASOLINE ENGINES, within the group Concepts and Attributes, you will be responsible for the development and analysis of advanced new combustion solutions and engine concepts for the next generation of gasoline engines. Your challenge is to meet the toughest of requirements on the market today regarding performance, emissions, fuel consumption and NVH. Your technical competence, as well as your ability to manage projects, should be strong so that you can make your own decisions and technical conclusions. Your mindset should be visionary and with an aim of finding solutions.

Job profile:

• Initiate and develop studies and new opportunities for combustion solutions to meet attribute targets, and also give quick and precise information on parameter studies needed for concept engine evaluations.
• Actively participate in the AE (Advanced Engineering) team.
• Report and communicate results and conclusions internally, within the AE team and engine development department, but also in papers.
• Build further networking opportunities between Volvo Cars and the universities and other cooperation partners for best practice.

Your profile:

• PhD or MSc in mechanical engineering or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Analytical mind, and ability of independently plan, manage and monitor your work.
• Great interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of English (spoken and written).
• Deep knowledge of combustion engines and thermo dynamic analyses, as well as measuring techniques.
• Meritious is previous work in optical test engine lab and the usage of optical test equipment.
It is also positive to have general experience from other OEMs, as well as skills in MATLAB.
• Driving license (car).
