Advanced Engineering & Vehicle Concepts is organized within Vehicle Engineering at Volvo Group Trucks Technology. We are responsible of preparing future trucks and transport solutions for all brands and markets by managing and driving Advanced Engineering at Vehicle Engineering & Vehicle Technology.

You will in this position work together with senior product architects and report to the Advanced Vehicle Engineering Portfolio Owner.
Who are you?
We think that you are an experienced engineer or geometrical architect who wants to further broaden your competence within the area of complete vehicles and transport solutions. You like to analyze and to aggregate complex tasks and are comfortable in making clear technical recommendations. In situations of uncertainties and ambiguity you look for solutions. If needed, you can be persistent in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks.
We think you are an organized person with direction setting ability and by that capable to make suitable compromises in order to reach the expected results over time. You are also able to take fast actions when needed to ensure progress in execution.

The role - what do we offer?
As Product Architect - Advanced Vehicle Engineering you will be responsible to lead system and/or vehicle development activities in selected technical areas. You will in this position work together with senior product architects and report to the Advanced Vehicle Engineering Portfolio Owner.
An assignment can include analysis and development within given scope including transfer of technical solutions to a product stream project in early phase.
Within your responsibility area an important part will be the solution preparation of future competitive, high volume production vehicles. These vehicles will ensure future legislation fulfilment, Unique Selling Points, Vehicle Lifetime Productivity, features, transport efficiency, logistic systems, infrastructure, intermodal logistics systems, services, connectivity, software, HMI etc.
What we expect from you
You have extensive truck product knowledge within the areas of:
- Truck vehicle architecture and system integration.
- Customer operation in heavy haulage, Long haul and Construction segment.
- Configuration of vehicle and vehicle combinations.
- System development includnig integration in vehicle.
- Mechanical and hydraulic system development and installation.
*Impacts on electrical system (HW/SW) - driven by above development.
- AE Field Test - selection of suitable operators for the actual technology, technical specialist support for ongoing AE Field test 's incl co-operation with internal and external Volvo workshops.
You are able to provide conceptual proposals by CAD.
You are skilled in tools as Matlab, KOLA, PDM-Link, CATIA, CREO Parametric, PERF, WIS.
You prepare and participate in activities for analysis on system and complete vehicle level.
You document results by virtual models (CAD) and images according to Volvos specification.
You have good communication skills.
It's a bonus if you also have:
Complete vehicle combination - optimized configuration vs customer needs (TCO, VLP).
Hydraulic system development for optimization of distributed driveline.
Score & Business Warehouse knowledge.
Network within AB Volvo.
Qualifications
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent product development experience of heavy trucks.
Minimum 5 years of experience using CAD professionally e.g within CAD design engineering.
5-10 years of experience of the heavy trucks product development.
